| GIRL: | What was I trying for? I don't know how to answer that question. | ||
| Fr. DAVID: | Well. if ending up dead wasn't on your mind, then what was? | ||
| GIRL: | A lot of things, I guess. | ||
| Fr. DAVID: | Can you please name just one for me… to begin with? | ||
| GIRL: | (She starts to cry) I, uh... oh, Fr. David... I had an abortion a few months ago and I hate myself so much... so very much for having it. | ||
| Fr. DAVID: | I see. That is serious. I think I'm beginning to understand. I'm so sorry you're suffering from that abortion. | ||
| GIRL: | Thanks, Fr. David. | ||
| Fr. DAVID: | I have a priest friend of mine, named Fr. Tom, who actually specializes in Post Abortion Syndrome. That's what some of the feelings are called when a women has had an abortion. | ||
| GIRL: | It has a name? | ||
| Fr. DAVID: | Yes, it does and many women suffer from the after effects of abortion. I would like you to meet Fr. Tom, if you would agree. He is wonderful in this area and I think he would be of great help to you. | ||
| GIRL: | Sure, if you think it would help. | ||
| Fr. DAVID: | I think it would, but we need to talk a little more about your situation, because I think might be symptomatic of a bigger problem. | ||
| GIRL: | Why? | ||
| Fr. DAVID: | Well, even if you didn't really want to end up dead, you took a big chance on actually dying by taking pills. You don't know how many you could really take safely and not die. I'm a professional and I'm not sure I would know for sure. | ||
| GIRL: | I never thought of it that way. I just wanted them to listen to me, I guess. | ||
| Fr. DAVID: | Did it work? | ||
| GIRL: | Yeah, I guess it did. | ||
| Fr. DAVID: | That's good, but that also leaves me worrying that you might try the same thing again the next time you feel that you might want to achieve the same goal. | ||
